The Ian Coley group of companies is comprised of Ian Coley Gunshop, Ian Coley Sporting and Ian Coley Shooting School. Ian is renowned in the shooting world for both clay and game shooting. Ian is current GB Olympic Team Coach and successfully coached Richard Faulds to Olympic Gold in Sydney 2000.
Ian is Gloucestershire born and bred, having grown up in Elkstone, Nr Cirencester, when his Mother and Father ran the Highwayman Inn. Having started as a gamekeeper on the nearby Coombe End Estate a twist of fate saw Ian start to work at Fletchers in Cheltenham in the gunsmith department. Ian was already shooting for his county and then England, but early on Ian knew he wanted to work for himself. In 1970 Ian began Ian Coley Gunsmiths in the High Street, Cheltenham.
Forty years on Ian has moved his gunshop from the High Street to his new, fully equipped shooting school. The story is far from simple. Ian developed his gunshop, still shooting for his country and, subsequently, for Great Britain, soon becoming a leading shooter and gunshop owner. Ian could be found travelling the motorways of England taking guns to new and existing clients. In the mid 80`s Ian began to offer corporate clay shooting days at stately homes. From there Ian began to coach the stars of tomorrow and expand his venture into letting game days.
Ian has extended the shooting school and redeveloped it, now making the shooting school one of the finest in the country. The school boasts Olympic layouts, comprehensive training facilities, gunroom, offices and full range of country clothing. Ian is seen as one of the best game shots in the country, a leading coach and a successful owner of three shooting enterprises.
The coming years will put the Ian Coley Shooting School firmly on the map and it will be seen in the top 10 of shooting schools, rivalling many of the top grounds in and around London. Ian is regularly featured in The Field, Shooting Times, Shooting Gazette, Cotswold Life and the local press.
