Events Manager

Ian Coley Sporting is seeking an organised, proactive and customer-focused Events Manager to oversee the complete delivery of corporate, charity, private and sporting events. Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will manage every stage of an event, from initial enquiry through to planning, delivery and post-event follow-up, ensuring every guest receives an exceptional experience. This is a varied, hands-on role within a highly respected countryside business where strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a positive, can-do attitude are essential.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage the full event lifecycle, from enquiry and booking through to delivery and post-event follow-up.
  • Develop event sales opportunities by building relationships with corporate clients, private groups, charities and repeat customers.
  • Create bespoke event packages that meet client requirements and business objectives.
  • Prepare professional proposals, quotations, schedules and event documentation.
  • Coordinate all event logistics, including instructors, catering, hospitality, prizes, safety equipment and refreshments.
  • Work closely with operational, reception, catering, marketing and management teams to ensure seamless event delivery.
  • Manage communication with self-employed instructors and maintain instructor availability records.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating best value while maintaining excellent service standards.
  • Host events professionally, acting as the key contact for clients and guests.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, licensing and firearms-related procedures.
  • Monitor event costs and support profitability while maintaining a high-quality guest experience.
  • Gather client feedback, identify improvements and encourage repeat business and referrals.
  • Support marketing activity through event content, testimonials, photography and social media input.
  • Assist with reception and front-of-house duties when required.
  • Maintain accurate records and manage workload effectively.

Ideal Candidate

Essential

Education

  • GCSE and/or A-Level standard education, or equivalent experience in events, hospitality, customer service, business administration or a similar client-facing role.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple events and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Good IT and administration skills with experience maintaining accurate records.

Education

  • Qualification in Event Management, Hospitality, Business, Marketing, Customer Service or a related discipline.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience organising corporate, private, charity or sporting events.
  • Knowledge of shooting grounds, countryside pursuits or firearms-related safety procedures.
  • Event sales experience and converting enquiries into bookings.
  • Experience working with suppliers, instructors and catering providers.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of business profitability.
  • Experience using booking systems, CRM platforms and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to improve processes and team coordination.
  • Experience supporting marketing activities and content creation.

This role is primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday working required to support events and business needs. Applicants must have access to their own transport, as Ian Coley Sporting is based in a rural location.
