Try Clay Shooting

*** Please Note, the Shooting Ground will be closed for practice on Wednesday 20th March due to a FITASC Competition ***

Come and try the exciting sport of clay shooting!

If you have never shot before then this is the package for you. We provide everything you need - an instructor, shotguns, cartridges, clays, all safety equipment - and lots of fun! If you feel in need of moral support, then spectators are very welcome too.

How the experience works:

You'll meet your instructor at the lodge - all our instructors are very experienced and most have shot at County or National level. Despite their formidable sporting achievements, they're very friendly and their main aim is to ensure you feel safe and have fun.

They will equip you with an appropriate gun - this might be a 12 gauge or a 20 gauge shotgun. 20 gauge shotguns are perfect for novice ladies and young shots as recoil is minimal.

What happens next?

You will shoot a variety of different clay pigeon targets under the guidance of your instructor, who will soon have you hitting clays!

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring?

There is no need to bring anything with you. The following is included in ALL our packages:

  • Tuition and gun hire
  • Cartridges and clays
  • All safety equipment

How long does it take?

Approximate times are noted in the package descriptions. Timings will be affected by group size and levels of experience.

What do I need to wear?

We've got gravel walkways, so no need for wellies or anything, even if the weather is being British. Comfortable, casual clothing and reasonably sensible footwear is about all that's required. People are welcome to bring their own caps and glasses/sunglasses if they wish, though we supply caps and glasses for everyone.

What if it rains?

We have a number of covered stands so guests can enjoy the day whatever the weather.

What about recoil?

We provide special low recoil cartridges and small bore guns if required, and ensure the experience is fun for all.

Was kindly offered a shooting session thanks to a kind benefactor. None in our "team" had ever held a shotgun before - let alone shot one. Very thorough safety briefing and a full demonstration of the whys and when.

Tuition was courtesy of a very approachable and obviously highly skilled and enthusiastic expert who soon had us all hitting the clays. Very unhurried and lots of back chat and "comments".

The whole location is professionally laid out and even for a bunch of novices we felt that we were given a fantastic introduction to the sport. Just need to save up for another go! ~ TripAdvisor

Just to say a big thank you from my nephew Chris and from me for such a fun-filled session this afternoon. Also, it was most informative to have such individual tips and hints over how to shoot on each shot. We'll definitely be returning!!! Thanks, Graham ~ via Email

First time shooting for my boyfriend and I. Loved it so much we went back for more the same week! Thanks ... for getting us hooked! A new passion for sure. ~ Facebook
