Situated half an hour west of Taunton in Somerset, the Chargot Estate is recognised as one of Exmoor’s finest shoots. With a history spanning over three decades, it has established itself as a leading destination for sporting shooting. Ian Coley Sporting has enjoyed a close relationship with the estate since its inception.
Over the years, the Chargot Estate has undergone significant investment and enhancement, particularly in recent seasons. The owner has been committed to continually improving every aspect of the shoot, making the most of the estate’s stunning natural landscape of deep combes, rolling valleys and high cleeves.
One of Chargot’s greatest strengths is its 350 acres of meticulously managed game crops. These provide long, steady and well-controlled flushes of birds throughout the season, presenting superb sporting opportunities over the waiting gun line. This distinctive feature has become a hallmark of the estate.
The partridge and pheasant season begins in early October, with nearly every drive offering an exciting and varied mix of quarry throughout the day.
At the heart of the shoot lies Langham Farm, the focal point of every shooting day. Teams gather here in the morning for tea and coffee beside a roaring log fire before returning to enjoy a delicious lunch and, later, a traditional afternoon tea.
Chargot is home to some of the most celebrated drives in the country, with birds of exceptional quality renowned for testing even the most experienced teams of Guns. Famous drives such as Spitfire, Melanie’s, Holly’s, Fat Hen, Lords and Langham consistently deliver unforgettable sporting challenges.
Situated within a National Park, the estate operates a strict fibre-wad-only policy.
For those who do not wish to field a full team, single gun opportunities are often available within a line of eight. Please enquire for current availability.
