Farndale has cemented a reputation as one of the Yorkshires finest shoots, with spectacular views of the North Yorkshire countryside it is also known for being one the country's most attractive shoots. With stunning drives such as Cross Plantation, Tommy Banks, Oak Cragg and Pig Wood amongst over twenty main drives it rarely disappoints.

The estate extends to around 5000 acres with a small grouse moor giving the option for some smaller grouse days or potentially a mixed species day which are becoming ever more popular.

Farndale prides itself on producing high birds with odd birds bordering on the extreme, all who visit will tell you it’s not just the height but often the speed and movement of the birds in the air that is enough to leave the very best of guns wondering where it all went wrong. The birds travel huge distances from flushing points which combined with the Westfield Farms blood line gives them their distinct behaviour, the shoots aim is for each peg to be presented with their own birds which are clearly theirs to shoot, there are no back guns here at Farndale.

The drives are presented from moorland edge and woodland and are mainly mixed pheasant and partridge, with partridges starting in September and pheasants in October.

Farndale is around 15 minutes from Helmsley, ideal for those that enjoy the buzzing shooting social life that only this area of Yorkshire can provide and teams can be collected at the hotel and led straight to the first drive or alternatively breakfast can be organised for local teams.
