First Impressions of the Krieghoff K80 Parcours

Krieghoff are well known for producing spectacular guns such as the K80 Supersport and the Pro Rib, and the K80 Parcours is no different. The barrels are built to last, and this is emphasised through the chroming of the chambers, enabling the shooter to put thousands of cartridges through their gun with confidence.

The durability of the barrels is further improved through the use of hard solder and combined with long forcing cones, allow for minimal recoil to be felt, which overall provides a smooth shooting gun. The famous K80 action itself needs very little introduction and combined with the solid top locking mechanism, produces a gun that will stand the test of time. With vast arrays of engraving styles and wood grades, the customer can piece together not only a piece of art, but a strong and reliable gun to tackle their chosen disciplines.

Shooting the Krieghoff K80 Parcours

I was thoroughly impressed with the handling characteristics of the Parcours. The grip on the stock and the shape of the forend have been meticulously designed to create a very solid feel of the gun in the hands.

Weighing in at the 8lb 3 oz mark (wood grades may increase weight) leads to the gun being fast moving, perfect for quick sporting targets, but steady enough to tackle some tricky long-distance targets. Whilst not being an experienced sporting shooter, the gun has provided confidence in taking on targets of all speeds and distances.

The Krieghoff K80 Parcours is not just a top of the range clay busting gun. It is incredibly versatile and fits right in on driven game, as the gun is multi choked and Fleur des Lis stamped for steel. The gun is set for the future of driven game shooting. One noticeable thing that really impressed me was the lack of recoil.

I shot some rather hefty 34 and 36-gram loads on some very high pheasants and it felt no different to shooting high performance clay cartridges, fantastically smooth and forgiving. Some 32" guns for me personally feel weighty and unbalanced, this is far from that, the balance is right over the hinge pins which makes for exceptional shooting. This combined with crisp and smooth trigger pulls produces something that can only be described as spectacular.
